I saw your blog and was very interested as it has been helping me wrangle our wild sharepoint 2010 server in our organization. I saw your post about configuration of the my sites to use .local and port 80. I was hoping that you would make a post about configuring my sites for use with SSL and port 443. I was unsure what was best practice as well, whether extending the exisiting my sites web application as created based on your post, or to create a new one from scratch? please advise, your resource was the closed thing to reality as i have been able to find. Keep up the awesome work!

I have received an wired issue. In our Production SharePoint 2010 environment, we have enabled mysite and newsfeed when we configured the environment for the first time. And it was working fine, i.e users were able to view feeds and tags under “My Newsfeed” section of their My Sites. Now just few days back users started complaining that they are not able to view anything under “My Newsfeed”.

When I checked, I found that under CA>>User Profile Service Application>>Setup My Sites page “Security Trimming Options” and “Newsfeed” are not visible.

I checked the Activity Feed job, and it is working. I am really cluless in this case.

Please help.

thanks a lot for your posting. In my case it was also a development environment, but it was already used for some Workflow and thats why User Information was necessary.

However, the UPSS was always “starting” it with your help it running now, finally :-)

i have this message and restart machine but no changes.

I have deployed the your solution and created a list for the survey .added question to the created list.

on the page i can see only “Problem: No questions were in the list to ask. You must add questions. Click here to be redirected to that list.”
under that “caste vote”.

Questions are not displaying on the page .

However, Microsoft is really heading down hill with issues like this. Drupal, and other CMSs are ready to eat their lunch. I find that time and time again I am completely lost trying to solve these issues, despite being involved in microsoft windows development since its inception.

I have tried this code, as well as a number of similar strings to modify the web part title bars, but always to disastrous effect. I apply the code by dropping it in a text file with the script header and footer, then linking to that file from a CEWP. When I save the page, I see that the title bars have changed, but so has a number of other elements. One, if the page layout had two columns (one and a right-hand sidebar), then the right-most column is gone completely. Two, I can no longer edit the page as the ribbon will not load, nor can I get Site Actions menu to open. I have to delete the text file from the site assets library to undo the damage. I am able to apply other solutions through the CEWP (such as tabbed web parts), but not this one. Any thoughts?

When I am upgrading SharePoint server 2007 64 bits to 2010 64 bit. I am getting error “configuration failed error “.it is showing me that failed to initiate the upgrade sequence.
